En–Knap Productions

Zavod En–Knap
Ljubljana, Slovenia

En–Knap begins in 1993, when contemporary dance in Leuven, Belgium, inspired choreographer Iztok Kovač. In 1994, he brought that energy to Ljubljana, Slovenia, founding what would become a lasting presence in the region’s dance scene. En–Knap Productions laid the foundation, followed by the formation of the permanent En–Knap Group ensemble in 2007. Two years later, in 2009, the Španski Borci Cultural Center opened as the group’s home base—a vibrant venue dedicated to contemporary performance, creation, and community. Shifting the work paradigm from project-based to ensemble-repertoire, with the center as hub and refuge for contemporary culture and diverse audiences, the group and production took on a continuous and comprehensive engagement with dance across disciplines, media and genres, on stage, film and in virtual reality, across generations and communities, in education as well as public space and heritage, through regional and international productions and co-productions, tours and guests, networking, exchange and collaboration, including Pan-Adria.
