For this international contemporary dance group turned production turned ensemble turned institution to happen, contemporary dance in Leuven, Belgium, had to happen to Iztok Kovač in 1993, Iztok Kovač had to happen to contemporary dance in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1994, En–Knap Group had to happen to En–Knap Productions in 2007, and Španski Borci Cultural Center had to happen to En–Knap Productions and En–Knap Group in 2009. Shifting the work paradigm from project-based to ensemble-repertoire, with the center as hub and refuge for contemporary culture and diverse audiences, the group and production took on a continuous and comprehensive engagement with dance across disciplines, media and genres, on stage, film and in virtual reality, across generations and communities, in education as well as public space and heritage, through regional and international productions and co-productions, tours and guests, networking, exchange and collaboration, including Pan-Adria.
